You don't just put the accent marks over a given letter. In computer terms, having that accent mark makes it a completely different letter. For example, the ñ in señor is a different letter than a plain old n.

Also, it depends on what kind of environment you're working in... For example, in a Windows-friendly program such as MS-Word, most email clients, and so on, open up the Character Map utility: Start-> All Programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> Character Map ... Find the accented letter you want, then Select and Copy... then Paste it into your MS-Word doc, your email, etc.

If you were using HTML to code a web site, you could use a page such as http://www.starr.net/is/type/htmlcodes.html
as a reference.
