Game Plan For 2007

Lately, I've started thinking about next year. Most people start on about December 29th, come up with some strict New Year's resolution, and stick with it for a day or two, if they're lucky. I want to do more than that. So, I am working on a comprehensive game plan for the entire year, and I didn't want to wait until the last minute.

This was not my original idea. I learned about it from Mark Ijlal, who is the guru of buying and selling foreclosure real estate in the state of Michigan. For mine, the first part is to make a list of everything that I am unhappy with in my life, or that I would like to be different. Next, how would I like each thing to be or turn out. Finally, the steps necessary to get from Point A to Point B.

It sounds incredibly simple, doesn't it? Well, the planning part will probably be the ONLY simple part of the whole thing. But I had a boss, several years ago, who told me, "Plan your work, and work your plan." So... we'll see how it goes.

10 hopefully thoughtful response(s):

  1. Well? What's your plan?

I made three "resolutions" in July in the hopes that making them in an odd month would prompt me to actually do them. So, far? Well, one out of three isn't so bad...

  2. I am still mulling things around in my mind. It might actually take a week or two longer for things to get solidified.

Also, I'm not sure "the plan" will be posted here... it may well be way too personal. We'll see.

  3. "they" say that goal should be:1. reasonable, and most importantly, obtainable. ;o)

Me buying, a guitar and taking lessons and learning...Totally reasonable (I am a musician) and obtainable...I spent $150 on the instrument and $50 on books...lessons...Well I am still looking for a teacher...

I can't wait to see this "list" ;o)

  4. (-:

    Good luck in 2007.

Sometimes just hanging loose and seeing where life takes you is okay too.

  6. My plan is to get to the end of 2007.

  7. Just give yourself reasonable goals. I know far too many people who have really great intentions and get crushed by planning to lose 100 pounds, write the great american novel, and build a house with their own hands in the first 6 months.

If you want to be held accountable, post your goals here, we'll cheer you on.

  8. Jim: Good luck with your list and plan.

Superstar is right you need to make sure the plan is 1. reasonable, and most importantly, obtainable.

  9. My goals for 07 in no apparent order. Some are realistic, some not so much.

Waking up, aka not being dead. Winning the lotto and retiring.
Get a paycheck once a week.
